Example 1



To a solution of the SM (1.3 g, 7 mmol) in MeOH (150 mL) was added a solution of oxone (12 g) in H2O (150 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at RT for 8 h. The mixture was concentrated to a reduced volume and the resulting aq mixture was extracted with DCM. The org layer was separated, dried (MgSO4), and concentrated in vacuo to provide the crude product that was used in the next step without further purification. [1.5 g, crude]
